EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY - Keperra

What is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise physiology is relatively new to the allied health profession, having been recognised by Medicare since 2006.

Access to this service allows patients undergoing physical rehabilitation or those diagnosed with a chronic illness to gain information, strategies and exercise programs from university-qualified health professionals.

Why see an Exercise Physiologist?

Many different people visit exercise physiologists, from elite athletes to those just looking for some advice on improving their exercise or health outcomes. Therefore, there are lots of different reasons you may see an exercise physiologist.

You might need some help getting started or changing an exercise program in order to reach a specific target or your GP may have suggested you visit to see how exercise can help manage a chronic condition or help to minimise your risk of getting a chronic disease.

What’s the difference between Exercise Physiologists and Personal Trainers?

Unlike personal trainers who may have only completed short courses to achieve their qualifications, exercise physiologists are university-qualified allied health professionals who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree with a deep understanding of physiology, health promotion, and exercise dose.

This means exercise physiologists have patient well-being and safety at the forefront of all programs and clients are closely monitored at all times.
